Networking tonight – Sun 5 June

| June 5, 2011 12:57 pm

Here is a quote from Vivian Greene that I think you’ll love…

Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass…
it’s about learning how to dance in the rain!

It’s true that we all face adversity in our life. However, it’s not the adversity, but how we react to it that will determine the joy and happiness we experience. During tough times, do we spend too much time feeling sorry for ourselves, or, can we, with gratitude…learn how to dance in the rain?

It almost sounds too simple to feel important, but one word…gratitude, can change your attitude and your life, forever. Sarah Breathnach said it best…

When we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives
but are grateful for the abundance that’s present….
we experience heaven on earth.

I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight at Duck Soup networking where you will have lots of friendly conversations and perhaps even find that one person with whom you’d really like to build a friendship.

See you from 7.30pm at 623 In The City on Hardy St.

June 5 Networking

| May 30, 2011 2:01 pm

I’m so impressed after some conversations with people during the month.  I have heard first hand from a women in her 50′s who has been coming along to Duck Soup on & off for just over a year and she is thrilled with the new friends she has made.  During the last few months she has been invited out over and over to lots of activities and celebrations and finally feels like she has created the ‘social groove’ she has been looking for.

Another success story has been with a Nelson guy I’ve known for ages from way back in my band days who has only recently started coming along to Duck Soup.  After he was devestated by a ‘surprise’ marriage break-up, he had resigned himself to being alone and struggled to even contemplate the effort of making new friends.  He immediately found some like-minded people (one of whom he knew but never knew was single!) at Duck Soup and had been experiencing a new-found commitment to his social life that has energised his life in other areas too.

I appreciate the Duck Soup regulars who patiently talk to our new members and initiaite social occasions to invite others along to – you are the reason Duck Soup works for those of us who are still climbing out of our rut….

At 7pm on Sunday (just before Duck Soup starts) 623 In The City will be showing the Sonny Bill Williams vs Alipate Liava’a Clash For Canterbury fight!

You might also consider having dinner before that – the Gourmet Roast night starts at 5pm for only $15.

Maybe you can invite someone you meet on Sunday night for a roast dinner before Duck Soup next month?

We’ll see you again this Sunday night (Monday is a holiday so you can sleep-in!) at 623 In The City from 7.30pm.
